Easter Weekend

I had a great Easter weekend with Jp's family down in Atlanta. A few notes from the trip:

• I forgot to bring my swimsuit so I rocked Grandma's swimsuit from the closet. Take that thrift store song! I rocked it Grandma style.

• I was compelled to take a photo of the bathroom in a department store because it was actually really pretty. And huge!!

• I helped hide Easter eggs for the kids with JP. I think we hid over 300 eggs (wow!!)

• Easter Service was really good and helped me think about where I am in my faith. Lots to think about.

• We got stuck in onlooker traffic for about 40 minutes on our way home within the last 90 mile stretch. Not how I wanted to end my trip... I'm exhausted.

Hug a loved one today! :)

Weekend Craziness

This weekend was pretty jam packed with things to do and it's not even over yet. Friday I got out of work early to try on bridesmaid dresses for a wedding I'm in in August. We're going to look banging!

JP was gone on a fishing trip Fri-Sat so I got to have a lazy day on Saturday to myself. Went out shopping and picked up a new shirt for myself from Belk.

JP came home late and brought dinner. So sweet! We ended up going to Dairy Queen for dessert. So much for the diet this weekend. Oh well. Back at it Monday I suppose. ;)

Sleepy Kitty

My cat has the easy life. Sleep. Eat. Poop. Repeat. Doesn't have to clean up after himself. Is constantly fed treats. I dangle string with a rubber fish on the end for his amusement. I wash the sheets at 11pm when he throws up a hairball...

What does he give me? Unconditional affection. Oh? I took you to the vet with strangers that you're so afraid of and put you under so I could remove a tumor-ish lump on your leg... What does he do when I look at him laughing with a cone on his head? Find anyway possible to still headbutt me an sit in my lap purring.

He's also my backup alarm clock. Once he hears my phone go off he'll come up on the bed and sit with me purring loud enough to keep me awake.

He's a good cat. A scaredy cat. But a good cat.

Also. Today I wish I could join him. Below is the view I had as I left the bedroom this morning.

Art Skills

Today was date day for the bf and I. We wanted to do something different than the usual walk around and spend money at the mall bit so we decided last night to go to Keepsake Pottery. It's one of the "you paint it we bake it" craft stores for clay pottery.

We ended up taking almost 2 hours to paint. JP took up painting a beach scene on a plate and I painted a spring theme on a mug. He admitted he liked it (-gasp-). I think it had something to do with Metallica playing in the background. I'm not complaining though. He was good company.

It made me reflect on doing something different as a couple every once in a while is good to spice things up. It keeps things fresh....

You like what I did there??? ;)

Spring is Coming!!

The weather is finally starting to warm up and I could not be happier. I love love love Spring and Summer because you can wear all sorts of cute dresses and bright colors (makeup and clothes too!).

Don't get me wrong. I love a good fall and winter but here in good ol' NC we don't get as much snow as I'd like. It gets "cold" enough to bundle up and accessorize with scarfs but not really cold enough for snow. :/ I also like fall/winter because it keeps one of my fears at bay. Bees. Buzz buzz buzz. Hate them.

It was in the 70s when I left my car for work yesterday, despite the rain, so I thought it would be a good time to start getting my spring accessories out. I did my makeup in a soft blue with a white flower hair decoration. Hope you like!

Fresh...

So it's been over a year since I posted in here...

I deleted my last post so I could start fresh.

Fresh.

Fresh...

I think that's the theme of my 2013. I want a -fresh- start on a lot of things. I've decided to spend more time on me. Something I haven't really done in the past. I've noticed a dramatic change in the way I see myself. It's all for the best.

Part of the -fresh- new me included getting healthier. I've had a Gold's Gym membership for the last year and a half. I've dropped 50 lbs and dropped 5 minutes off my mile time (a record I've been wanting to break for a long time - go me!). I've never been the athletic type so working out was hard, really hard, to get into at first and now I enjoy it. It's a good stress relief at the end of the day and I always feel better after a good run (no matter how much I gripe about it while I do it).

Another part of the -fresh- new me was an active effort to feel more confident. That included subscribing to two monthly make-up/fashion boxes to help broaden my collection. Confidence shouldn't just come from the outside it should also come from the inside! Working out at the gym has given me a new confidence as well, but it's always good to feel feminine and girly!

I used to be the one to wear jeans and a sweatshirt everywhere I went. If I wanted to be honest with myself it was because I wanted to hide inside it (part of not feeling confident). Part of my -fresh- new fashion sense I'd have to thank my sister for getting me into. That and polyvore on pinterest. Darn you and your super cute outfits I wish I could pull out of the computer screen and put in my closet!

So that brings me to why I'm posting. I want to start sharing what I've learned in fitness/health, beauty and fashion with the rest of the blogging community so that I might help someone else who needs that push to get.... fresh. :)
